Hiking and Biking

Appalachian Trail (hiking only) a 2174 mile-long path extending along the east
coast from Maine to Georgia).  It takes approximately 5 million footsteps to walk the

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal ( walking, hiking, jogging, biking) a 183 mile
towpath that stretches along the Potomac River from Cumberland MD to
Georgetown in Washington DC. (301) 739-4200

Maryland Heights (hiking only) towers above the rivers, is one of the  area's most
strenuous hikes.  This trail has breathtaking views of Harpers Ferry and the rivers.

Horse Back Riding

Elk Mountain Trails You can ride the trails of Harpers Ferry with Elk Mountain Trails.
You will travel on horsebackthrough the Blue Ridge Mountains to the banks of the
two rivers. Open March to December, Saturdays and Sundays, Fridays with
